MUSIC and the SOUL

music of rick calderone, steve parrish, michele statt

downtown (Nowhere man)

Searching for answers in a dark place like this

I’m taking my chances I’ll be betrayed with a kiss

Are you alone? Please no tricks of your trade

I better call home. If no one picks up I’ll stay…

I’m not gonna go now… I’m a man without

I’m not gonna go there… I’m a man nowhere

Circle this date on your calendar

Tell me it’s the time when I’m falling down

Fickle is the fate of your Sybil whores

Tell me which one of you is coming now

Why is your head always spinning round?

Round round round round round

Meet me downtown downtown

Your bi-polar twists they are killing me

What did you learn in your special class?

Tell me again after death where I’ll be?

In your world I don’t think I’ll ever pass

Maybe you don’t think…I don’t want to pass..

Pass… I’ll pass

Though I’m in line, I’m last, dead last

The world spins by so fleeting fast

For a dreaming outcast out last (I’ll outlast you)

I’m paranoid to think that they’re watching me (watching, watching)

Naïve enough to think that I’d never fall (down I go)

Quickly to the brink of uncertainty (which way do I go?)

The darkest of these streets is paved after all (dare I go?)

This is not the path to the greater hall

Kansas and Pink talked all about a wall....

I’m down down down down down

You’ll see me downtown downtown down

I’m down down down down, so far underground

Try the lost and found that’s where I’ll be bound

Lost and lonely in a dark familiar place

I know it’s wrong but I have to feel your pretty face

I’m so alone Megan what’s this for?

Shall I go home? Your tan legs beg for more…

thoughts

this song is replete with religious undertones, and the darker side of my person...lots of alcohol abuse went into the making of this one, and although i hardly ever play it live, it's a favorite to play alone with no lights...

from start to finish, changes in pace and approach, and the final smooth of production, this stands up there as one of our best projects (at least in my head)

btw, the original version, i sang "i'm your man nowhere" and it sounded like i was saying "i'm in my underwear"..so although that probably works metaphorically, we switched it to the current way...

there are nods to three bands in this song: the BEATLES, KANSAS and PINK FLOYD
