shuffleboard street

Welcome old man, to your final resting place…the grass is green here the sun is warm

You’ll want for nothing here all your needs are pre-arranged but you may feel tired, you may feel worn…

Our staff is friendly sir, the smell is clean inside…of course if you prefer your bed can face the western side.

If you get a chance to go outside and see the fountain, a nurse will be there by your side, one you can count on…

So shuffle your feet down to Shuffleboard Street and we’ll chatter, talk of things in life that really matter

Can I take your hand? How’s your head? You know you shouldn’t stand, let’s get you back into your bed…

The siren’s wail passes at least twice a day… there’s Charlie, Sam or maybe Mary…they’re on their way…

I’m tired of sitting weary by the phone…I’m ready to take that one-way trip, to die alone…

So shuffle your feet down to Shuffleboard Street and we’ll chatter, talk of things in life that might have mattered… “I want to feel the sun, touch the clear blue water…I want to see my son and talk to my grand daughter, yeah…”

thoughts

this song was started when i was still in college and a buddy's dad was being put into a "care" facility.. it moved us then, and cuts closer to the mark every year...the main idea is so stark, it seemed the song should remain so...

we left this in raw at the request of a friend
