The World is Beautiful, la la la la
I got under your skin, that’s as far as I’ve ever been
So much for beautiful…
I started off low, I’ve far to go, she won’t say ‘no’
She waxes eloquent, blah blah blah blah
She said she’s heaven sent, don’t think I can pay the rent
So much for eloquence
She started to say that I’m in her way “Get the hell out today”
It’s decision time…I think I’ll pour some precision wine
A treasure under glass, now she’s just a big pain in the arse
Ask the question! Ask the question! Ask the question… it’s too late…
The World is beautiful, mmm mmm mmm mmm
You found me under stone, I guess I’ll stay here alone
The World is beautiful
the real title for this song is "Skin Deep" which says something...i've often thought of the inane-ly (is that a word?) shallow conversations we've had in our lives..the weather, the tabloids, tv shows and celebrity personalities...surely there is something more? maybe not...
some of my deeper thoughts require the assistance of whiskey or wine to vent the shell...i like the 'decision time' line...
Steve actually "played" a live shaker to this track...we joked about this because it seemed so simple a task (and to Steve, it was)..but for me, as a cocky guitar player, i just assumed i could play anything the track required.."ah, a little bass, gimme that 4-stringed thingee...okay, some cello strings, i'll just patch one from a keyboard..." umm not so easy, chester...i couldn't hold a shaker for more than 17 seconds on a dare, let alone any of the other instruments i was "minimizing"..that early dose of humility was a smack of reality, and gave me a true appreciation for all the little things in making music or songs...
