MUSIC and the SOUL

music of rick calderone, steve parrish, michele statt

too soft spoken

Can I ask you a question?

It’s not a very difficult one…

Dignify me with the responsible response

Color me gold color your hair bright blue…

I’m not asking a lot from you…

You’re too soft spoken

You’re too soft spoken

Let’s get right to the matter let’s cut to the chase

I know I’m an ugly blemish on your inhuman race

Let’s talk about how I destroyed your two-story place…

At least that’s your story…

I said I’d query a question or maybe two

What’s with the canine-style butterfly tattoo?

Oh but it looks just wonderful on a magical you

You’re deep like a blue ocean or church pew

Talk a little louder

Let’s get right to the matter let’s cut to the chase

I’m a little sadder now that you’ve lost your taste

I see here a pattern easy to trace

More like a spider web…

Did I say you’re a derelict and a freak?

What part of your perfect body have you pierced this week?

Inside your hollow shell I’d like to take a peek…

Random holes and inkblots paint a picture deep

The more I see of the outside

The less I sense on the inside

Who’s your interior decorator, I think they missed a spot

Who’s the intellectual stimulator, wow she’s hot

A mental invigorator, still just an inkblot

Prestidigitator, I’m not

thoughts

originally, this song had an Irish lilt to the faster second half and was to be instrumental...a couple of angst-ridden binges later and some arguments about the value of tattoos and piercings, some angry lyrics found their way to the song

the instrumental beginning to this was written a long time before and was called "introspection"...we tagged it to the beginning as an opposite feel for the angry end

the subdued guitar riffs under the verses are some of my favorites to play
